Welcome and Bouquet Care

Welcome to our 2025 flower subscriptions! We are very excited to welcome you this year! If you have received our flower subscription before or this is your first year, we have some important tips to share with you to insure you get the most out of your beautiful flowers!

  • Flower Care Tips

    • Choose a clean vase for your flowers. Dirty vases may harbor bacteria that can decrease your bouquets life. Cleaning your vase super well with dish soap and spraying a small about of white vinegar in before you fill with water can help stop any bacteria from harming your flowers.

    • Trim about 1/2 inch off stems before placing in vase and each time you change the water. Use clean scissors to ensure you aren’t contaminating the stems.

    • Strip off any foliage that sits below the water line to prevent bacteria growth. Decaying foliage will deposit bacteria into the water.

    • To ensure the flowers have fresh water, change the water every 2-3 days with fresh room temperature water. To freshen up your flowers, gather the bouquet and lift out of vase, rinse vase, refill with clean water and if you have extra flower food add more. Trim the stems another 1 inch off the bouquet and remove any old blooms. Spray or rinse the ends of the stems with water to wash away any bacteria. Place them back in the clean vase.

    • Exception to the Rules: Some flowers are what we call dirty flowers that can dump more debris in to the water and are more sensitive to polluted waters, if you see these in your vase or have a lot of these particular flowers in your vase daily water changes are great too. But don’t worry if you don’t they will still last as we pick our flowers and have them at your door in close to 24 hours.

These flowers include zinnias, marigolds, sunflowers, yarrow, rudbeckia, daffodils and dahlias, celosia, snapdragons, bachelor buttons. We also pretreat these flowers so they get off to the right start before they reach your home.

    • Keep well hydrated! The flowers here on the farm are freshly harvested, so they can be extra thirsty compared to flowers from a florist shop so keep an eye on your water level and top up as needed.

    • Keep your flowers out of direct sunlight and heat.

    • Keep your flowers away from fruits such as bananas, apples, pears, plums, avocados, tomatoes and mangos. Many fruits give off ethylene gas which can decrease your flowers lifespan.

    • We typically only use flower food for our peonies. Which you will receive if peonies are in your bouquets. Otherwise, we don’t use flower food, as we have many flowers in the bouquets that don’t particularily like flower food….we’re looking at you zinnias and sunflowers! If you are interested in a at home flower food you can just mix: 2 tablespoons of lemon juice -1 tablespoon of sugar -1/2 teaspoon of bleach and mix into 1 quart of water. If you use flower food at any time it is really important to be sure all particles are dissolved before adding your flowers or the flower stem could get clogged and kill your flowers.

    • Once your flowers are gone, clean your vase really well so you have a fresh new vase for your next bouquet ready to go.

    • Enjoy! Take in the scents and beautiful display of locally grown flowers and feel good about knowing you are supporting local sustainable flowers that is helping our bees and pollinators too.

We pretreat the flowers when they are harvested so you can be rest assured that the flowers are coming to you fresh as possible with as little to no bacterial growth.

Cut flowers are not for human or pet consumption so please keep away from pets and children, some flowers can be toxic so should be kept in a safe place where pets and children can’t accidentally eat them.

Flowers are not supposed to last. Their job is to help us stay in the present.

They grow.

They blossom.

They thrive.

And then they are gone.

You have to stay in the present. You have to stop and be in the moment.

Otherwise, you are going to blink, and they are going to all be gone.
